FAQ
How big are the yarn letters?
As big as the item allows: the name runs across the front in big, raised 3D yarn letters, so a short name gets bigger letters than a long one. The size guide lists the size of every item, and each item page shows a preview of your name on it before you order.
Letter height: [OWNER: letter height in cm for a short and a long name on the kids’ backpack].
On a small item like the pencil case, a short name or a nickname looks best. A backpack or tote bag has more room for a long name. Not sure? Email us the name and the item at support@embroiderednames.com, and we’ll tell you how it will look.
Can I wash it, and how?
Yes, gently: spot clean, or hand wash in cold water (up to 30 °C) with a mild detergent, then dry flat. Don’t rub or wring the yarn letters, don’t iron them and don’t use a tumble dryer. While the item is damp, shape the letters with your fingers so they stand up again.
Don’t soak woven straw bags: clean them with a damp cloth only. If the label sewn into your item says something different, follow the label. All the tips are on washing and care.
How long do making and delivery take?
8–15 business days from your order to your door, with a tracking number, and delivery is free. That covers both: each item is made by hand after you order, then sent to your home address in Latvia, Lithuania or Estonia.
We email you the tracking number when the parcel leaves. For Christmas 2026, order by 2 December, so that even the slowest delivery arrives by 23 December. For a birthday or a name day, order about three weeks ahead. If your parcel is late, here is what we do. All the details: delivery.
Can you stitch Ā, Š, Ų, Õ or Russian letters?
Yes. Type the name exactly as it’s written, with its marks: Latvian (ā, č, ē, ģ, ī, ķ, ļ, ņ, š, ū, ž), Lithuanian (ą, č, ę, ė, į, š, ų, ū, ž) and Estonian (õ, ä, ö, ü, š, ž) letters all work, and so do Russian letters. The preview on each item page shows the name as you type it.
The name field takes letters, spaces and hyphens, up to 16 in all; numbers, emoji and symbols can’t be stitched. We stitch the name exactly as you type it, capital letters included, so check the spelling before you pay. Try it on the kids’ backpack.
Can I return a personalised item?
Not just because you changed your mind: every item is made with the name you typed, and EU law gives no 14-day return right for items made to the buyer’s own specification. We say this in the cart, before you pay.
But if something is wrong, we fix it at no cost to you. If we made a mistake in the name, colour or item, if it’s faulty, or if it arrived damaged, we make it again and send it free, or refund you in full. You also have the 2-year legal guarantee. Email support@embroiderednames.com with your order number and a photo. Details: returns.
How many letters fit?
Up to 16 letters, spaces and hyphens: enough for almost any first name, and for double names like Anna-Marija.
A short name gets the biggest letters. The longer the name, the smaller each letter has to be to fit across the item, so on a small item like the pencil case a short name or a nickname looks best. Type the name on any item page to see the preview before you order, or ask us at support@embroiderednames.com.
Which yarn colours are there?
On each item page you pick the yarn colour for the name: cream, pink, sky blue, mint, yellow or charcoal. Where an item comes in more than one colour, you pick the item’s colour too, as shown in its photos.
The yarn colours on screen are samples: the real yarn can look slightly different, and every screen shows colours a little differently. A dark yarn stands out most on a light item, and a light yarn on a dark one. Not sure which to pick? Email support@embroiderednames.com and we’ll help. See the colours on the kids’ backpack.
Is it safe for small kids?
Our items are made for children, and each item page has a Product safety section with the maker, the person responsible for the item in the EU and the item’s warnings, as EU product safety law asks. Read it before you buy for a baby or a toddler.
With any bag or blanket, a few habits help: keep straps and cords away from a baby’s neck, don’t let small children chew the yarn letters, and don’t leave a sleeping baby with a loose blanket. Check the item now and then for loose stitches, and stop using it if something comes loose: tell us and we’ll fix it.
What if something is wrong with my order?
Email support@embroiderednames.com with your order number and, if you can, a photo. If we made a mistake in the name, colour or item, if it’s faulty or if it arrived damaged, we make it again and send it free, or refund you in full.
If you spot a typo you made in the name, write at once: if making hasn’t started, we change it for free. If the parcel hasn’t arrived 15 business days after your order, we chase the carrier and, if it’s lost, send a new item or refund you. Every step: problems with an order.
Yarn, chenille or flat embroidery: what’s the difference?
Our names are made of thick yarn that stands up from the fabric, so the letters are big, soft and raised, in 3D. Chenille is a fluffy, velvety yarn, often used for patch letters on college jackets. Flat embroidery is thin thread stitched close to the fabric: neat and very hard-wearing, but flat.
Raised yarn letters want gentle care: wash them by hand and don’t rub them, and they keep their look. Flat embroidery takes rough washing better, and chenille can shed a little when it’s new. For a name that is big and easy to see, raised yarn is the one. On a few items, like the Santa sack, the name is soft cotton rope instead, and the item page says so. See the yarn letters on the tote bag.
Do I pay customs or VAT when the parcel arrives?
No. The price you see includes VAT, import duties and delivery, so there is nothing more to pay at the door or to the courier. Delivery to your home in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia is free.
You pay the total in your cart, the same total you see on the payment page. If anyone ever asks you to pay for one of our parcels, email support@embroiderednames.com before you pay: you shouldn’t have to. All the details: delivery.
How can I pay?
By card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, on the secure payment page of our payment provider, Whop. The payment page is in English. We never see your card details: we get only your order number, the amount and your email address.
You pay the total shown in your cart, in euros, with VAT, import duties and delivery included. After paying you land on your order page, and we email you a confirmation with a link to follow the order. Questions about paying? Write to support@embroiderednames.com. More in the terms of sale.
